James Gibbons School provides students with a wide range of extracurricular pursuits to help students become responsible citizens and develop character education skills. This page describes a few of the many clubs and activities offered by our school.
Intramurals
Floor-hockey intramurals are held during the months of October and November in the school gymnasium at lunch. All students in grades four through six are invited to participate in floor-hockey intramurals; every student is able play and none are turned away. It is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their character education skills while being active and having fun! Additionally, students in grade six have the chance to become team captains, giving them an excellent leadership opportunity.

School Choir
Many students join the school choir, practicing hard at lunch to learn the words to many songs and become successful performers. They are given the opportunity to perform at our School Christmas Concert and always do a fantastic job.
Recycling Club
Students who participate in the Recycling Club learn to appreciate the value of recycling and develop a strong sense of environmental awareness. They collect and clean beverage containers and, in doing so, help contribute funds towards grade six year-end activities.
Running Club
During the months of January and February, all students in grades four through six who wish to participate in Running Club are invited to join. Students practice running on relay teams in the school gymnasium at lunch, and are able to attend the Edmonton Journal Indoor Games at the University of Alberta Butterdome in mid-February.
